IVF Egg Retrieval Procedure
Egg Retrieval, also known as Ovum Pick-Up (OPU), is a quick and minimally invasive procedure performed under light sedation to collect mature eggs from the ovaries. This essential step in the IVF process ensures that the healthiest eggs are available for fertilization, bringing you closer to achieving pregnancy.

The egg retrieval process

Procedure
Eggs are gently retrieved from ovarian follicles with a thin needle under ultrasound. One port aspirates the follicular fluid while another allows flushing with a special medium, all connected to a low-power suction system for safe handling.

Egg Handling
The collected fluid is taken to the IVF lab, where an embryologist carefully identifies and separates the eggs under a stereozoom microscope. The eggs are then placed in a nourishing culture medium inside an incubator until fertilization.

Controlled Environment
The procedure takes place in a sterile, 37°C laminar flow workstation with a precise gas mixture to maintain egg health. This controlled setting ensures eggs remain viable and ready for fertilization.
